Re: Used Cat market in the next 10 years

Useless information -- Speaking about Australia, Retirees that travel in RV's are termed Grey Nomads . It is a new expression that these same people , in yachts , are termed Blue Nomads !! I've noticed a massive increase in floating population over the past 10 or so years . Most increase in type of boat is to multis. Perhaps 50/50 in any anchorage

Re: Used Cat market in the next 10 years

What matters is if there are places to put them. I'm starting to research the possibility of creating a multihull marina in the shallow draft area of south San Diego Bay. Anyone interested in getting involved?

When even the commodore of the NY Yacht Club has gone to a cat, you can see how the future will go. There are a lot of older cruisers who are switching to cats.

Re: Used Cat market in the next 10 years

Not just the next 10 years, but the used cat market has expanded dramatically in the past 10 years. Now, and in the near future, is a great time to buy a cat. Unfortunately, for those of us who already have one...this same phenomena is likely to depress market value. [emoji21]

And slips for them will become harder and harder to find.

Marinas could remove the center pilings in double slips to accommodate more Multihull's.

Our Leopard 40 has held its value as well. Although, I don't know what the changes we've made will do to it.

God listen to me, I'm officially an old fart.

The younger generation coming through now aren't going to want to put up a sail. They don't even want to turn a key, so when the smart phone starts the boat it should just find it's way to wherever they are not sure they want to go.

In short they will want power catamarans not sail boats.

Or you may see a move towards med-mooring as marinas refurbished.

My first cruising boat was at an old, rundown marina, docks and pilings in horrible shape, not a cat in sight the first year. I showed up after winter and passed by the owner who told me to look at the new guy, a lagoon cat. He said, "we had to take out a piling."

I looked over at the boat and back to the owner an asked, "someone accidentally knocked down it down and that guy showed up?"

Marina owner: "yep"

Maybe you should realize, that you have like 200 families running an Oligarchy in your country. They are strongly intermarried. And mostly all related back to King John and the House Hannover from the Holy Roman Empire (later renamed to Winsor in England).

Trump and Obama and Clinton are close cousins in the line of king John. They put up a good show about how they differ in their politics but basically they are the same group representing the same political and financial interests.

They are all not very interested in what is good for us but what is good for them and their kind and the continuity of power in the hands of their offspring.

We have the same system here in Germany mostly run by people from the old noble Houses of the holy roman empire especially the house Hannover.

Look at the genealogy of your leaders, CEOs, filmstars, scientists and you will understand the true nature of "Democracy".

It was just cheaper and more productive to grant liberties and freedom and saver to replace the ruling monarch by vote every couple of years than by revolution.

In the end the economic system of the west is based on a military supremecy and blackmail any county to use the dollar as reserve currency and open their market to allow to buy up the economy on that dollar created form a debt paper at will. And it is a very brutal system in my eyes. Exporting Democracy...

At least Trump is the far better entertainer than Obama creating much stronger emotions. And at least we deserve a good show... I would prefer none of the above having any power over people and weapons.

Re: Used Cat market in the next 10 years

I'd support keeping politics out of sailing discussions ! And while i'm at it -ban religion and LGBDT. These topics are best left to Brietbart , Pickering Post, Mad World , etc. Sailing is' pure nature ', keep it that way !
