Hello all,
A friend recently purchased a 41' leopard which has a 24' beam. He wants to ship it to Toronto or Montreal Canada from Tortola BVI.

Does anyone know of a company that can transport a boat that size by ship ?

The other option is to sail her up but hurricane season is near and he has no ocean experience.

All suggestions are welcome.

Try Dockwise.

They can at least get it to Newport RI. I do not think they transport to Canada.

Another consideration is for him to sail it up the ICW protected waters and have it trucked the relatively short distance from the northeast US.

If the beam is not too wide the Hudson river would take him to Montreal?

The NYS canal system can handle vessels with a beam of up to 43.5 feet and a LOA of 300 feet.

Yes, that is the other option.
He is interviewing captains next week.

I guess he wants to compare costs between having it transported and sailing it. Time is a factor, he can't take more than a week or two off at a time. If the weather doesn't co-operate he burns up money in terms of travel to and from the boat.
