Surveyor in Rio Dulce?

Greetings

We are interested in a cruising catamaran that is currently in the Rio Dulce. If this becomes a serious possibility, we will of course want to have the boat surveyed. Does anyone know of a good surveyor in that area, or will we have to fly a surveyor down from somewhere else (probably Florida?) Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Iris

Neither SAMS nor NAMS list any accredited surveyors in Guatemala.

SAMS ~ The Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (S.A.M.S.)
The Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors, Inc.® - (SAMS&#174

NAMS ~ The National Association of Marine Surveyors (N.A.M.S.)
The National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS)

My cursory search revealed two in Central America (see below), several in the West Indies, and a few American’s who travel.

There are a few good boats on the Rio Dulce and several that have been ditched by owners. Many boats that go up for sale never sell and are eventually sent back to the US to be sold.
A few things to be careful of are fees owed to the GU Gov, fees owed to marinas etc.
The river is a small community that are very tight go to the link I have posted, drop a few messages on the local message boards, there are a listing of numbers and contact people. One of the best Marinas that is not overly imersed in drama is "The Monkey Bay"

Thanks for the information

I'm not in a big hurry to buy a boat yet, so I'll probably keep looking and maybe find a boat closer to home.
I have some friends who are sailing their Privilege 39 down to the Rio Dulce and should be there by hurricane season. That may be a good time to visit the area.
thanks again!

I have used Rory McDougal in Placencia Belize and La Ceiba Honduras, being very satisfied with his work.
