Seawind 1000 Assy spinnaker

Watched a few vids on top down furlers. Thanks for the tip. They look like the go and I guess there are furlers and there are furlers. What's good out there?
I assume the 1000 will sail well with an aspin...

1.Exactly what is right technique
2. I know the furled sail is easier to store but you also think just as easy to handle as sock?
3. I think you have the factory supplied bowsprit - can you comment on the length as it looks a lot longer than an aftermarket Allyachtspars bowsprit I have seen own another 1160 Lite in Brisbane.

Allyacht spars Bowsprit is factory. Allyacht Spars do the rigs (and bowsprits where ordered) on Seawinds.

The way mine is set up it does not fold up, it folds sideways. When the bowsprit is in use the screecher or spinnaker is on a line/wire that functions at a forestay. This forestay raises the bowsprit maybe a couple of feet or so above the forward cross member the bowsprit is attached to via a pin. When the screecher/spinnaker is lowered the bowsprit is lowered resulting in slack in the two cables holding it down. With slack in those cables it is possible to fold the bowsprit sideways so it is along side the forward cross member. There is a system of lines attached to the bowsprit that are secured via a jam cleat to secure the bowsprit.

Just as an aside I have also seen the video of top down furling spinnakers and talked to Mack Sales about one. It is definitely something that interests me. Problem is I am still not sure just how much I would use it. In racing most multihulls don't sail directly before the wind, instead they sail two legs since it is faster. Not saying race boats don't use spinnakers or that a spinnaker does not mean the boat is going faster; just that for someone like me who single hands or often has an inexperienced crew the extra speed may not be worth the effort.

1. The aim is not to get a backrap on a furler , this is prevented by easing off the wind , normally around 170 degree before releasing the sheet and beginning to furl , key point is make sure your have fully released , and depowered the sheet before trying to furl. If you try and furl when overloaded you end up pretensioning the furler which causes the back rap.

Extrusion is still made at all yacht spars in Brisbane and sent to Vietnam, on Australian delivered boats they are dressed in Vietnam, placed on boat and reassembled in Australia and stood by AYS. If you have any thoughts on this give All Yacht Spars a call. When the boats were manufactured in Australia the rigs were done by tempo spars in Sydney, you could also give them a call.

I Guess it all depends on what your definition of " made in" is?
A 2 part blank spar section extrusion is a Long way from being a full working mast, as far as I am concerned the boats are all made in Vietnam and I would included the mast in this same definition, Seawind does import fittings which they then "assemble", harken , Lewmar , Honda , yanmar etc
