Re: Ridiculous Seawind 1160 Prices

Shocker, okay not really... But Cool Running's (The Catamaran Company - Catamarans For Sale. Caribbean Sailing, Virgin Island Sailing Vacations and Yacht Charters World Wide. Lagoon Catamarans For Charter, Crewed and bareboat charters worldwide, charter operater of lagoon catamarans. VOYAGE charte) is back on the market at a lower price of $344k. Wonder if the boat has problems or if there wasn't really a buyer but rather a tire kicker.

Prices keep continuing to drop and 1160's still don't sell. $300k here we come!

I agree, especially if the vendor received close to asking price.

No doubt it would have been largely due to the custom raised helm position as shown in the linked photograph!

Seahound sold a few months ago. You can have that custom helm position for only $29.99 extra. You need a quality folding chair with good rubber feet.

Ensign yacht brokerage have one of those "week ender" listed at $440 k here at their runaway bay marina I think that it is a 2009 model , now that is what I call A RIDICULOUS price. Next to it is a Lagoon 380 2010 model for $ 310 k , if I was on the market I sure know which one would tickle my interest , by the way the Lagoon is equipped with lots of extra for blue water cruising unlike the week ender from Seawind.

Obviously there is a reason the Seawind is priced above the Lagoon. Just as a Ferrari is priced higher than a VW Bug. Do enjoy your 380 though. :-)

First off I never said that I had a Lagoon , second , comparing a Seawind to a Ferrari PLEEEEAAAASE , Saewind are OK for what they are , but it is a far strech thinking that they are a fast cat , I have just ordered an Outremer 49' to be picked up from La Grande Motte early june , now that my frienf IS a Ferrari.

Good, I've made my point. Comparing a Lagoon 380 to a Seawind 1160 is like comparing a Seawind to a Ferrari, no comparison at all. Congrats on your Outremer, beautiful boat.

Keep waiting and they'll keep getting cheaper. And older.

Weekender you say, you taking the same drugs as Flyboy? I tried to have a look for the weekender on the Ensign Site, it isnt there?

BTW Congrats on your Outremer, nice boat. Hopefully they dont go down the Catana path and get heavier each edition, the 5X is right at the edge of doing that. Their ethos of strong light and lean sets them apart.

Re: Ridiculous Seawind 1160 Prices

Le Doume, just an FYI, it's the 1000 that's the weekender not the 1160. The 1000 has the gas powered outboards versus diesels. The 1160 is loosely an L380 competitior, so slightly more upmarket than the 1000.

Re: Ridiculous Seawind 1160 Prices

And just for everyone elses information, 1000s have been all over the pacific, half way round the world (so far), up to alaska, from san fran to Hawaii. As for the Petrol Powered outboards there are many circumnavigators who will disagree with you and many who will agree with you. Personal choice really. Hell I even know few mono circumnavigators that mounted an outboard as the got sick of dealing with motor issues on their old boat. Some folk I know lived aboard for 5 years (Katie Kat

Here is a podcast from a couple who circumnavigated witha single outboard - on a Rogers Cat Magic Carpet

Friend of mine in his 60s circumnavigated Australia Single handed on his outboard powered weekender.

Did you get bitten by an outboard as a child, you seem to have a pathological dislike of them.

Re: Ridiculous Seawind 1160 Prices

Outboards are great for what you want in your circumnavigator. So when are you proving the promise and hitting the high seas in your 10 metre?

Mate - I thought you had me on ignore? So when are you going to have a boat and sail anywhere. And look I know the french have an issue with measuring things and there boat names can be only rough guides to boat lengths (e.g. how long is a Lipari 41 - Hint it aint 41 foot) but you should know that I dont have a 10 metre, its 10.85. But hey if the Fp can overstate length I suppose we can understate a bit

Re: Ridiculous Seawind 1160 Prices

I'm not your mate.

I thought you had gone away out of Internet coverage on your 10 metre circumnavigator, however it appears I was horribly mistaken.
