Racer / Cruisers - Am I Missing Any ?

Still trying to get up to speed on current offerings.

The wish list;

1.) Fast and light
2.) Dagger boards
3.) < $275K used, any age
4.) Not near as important as 1~3, but a large Nav station

"Spartan"

Scape
Formula 40

"Comfortable"

Cantana
Outremer
Manta

Can anyone add to the list of "Spartan" or "Comfortable"?

Thank you

Mantas don't have daggerboards and are not a racer/cruiser but are super comfortable. Outremers are more toward the spartan category. BOB

Bob,

Why did I include Manta? Is it at least fast and light? I do like them. The Outremer, when compared to a Scape or Formula 40 would IMHO, be classified "comfortable".

Neither, but comfy and rigged for shorthanded sailing and really thought out well. Seawind doesn't have daggerboards but are faster than most. Bob

Bob,

I'm looking at one now, 2003 1200 for $299K. Your right, a nice looker, stand up nav station, but at least has a desk below. Sure has a large aft arch.

Older Privilege up to about 42 foot should be at the top of your comfortable list. Would also be at the top of the strong and well-proven category which you don't have - but should!

Re: Racer/cruisers, am I missing any?

Here's the Conser. It's a partial bridgedeck design like the Edel. Some of the early smaller Outremers had this as well. The common feature is a central pod saloon with no interior access to the hulls. That's why most people don't want them and that's why they are cheaper and that's why it will be harder for you to sell. Catamarans for sale
You do surf the Cat Co and Multihull sites? Have you read Tarjans book? It will be your bible. Good Luck. BOB

Re: Racer/cruisers, am I missing any?

Bob,

For some unknown reason, I left the Maine Cat 41 off the list. Great boat.

I was talking to a bloke in Mooloolaba recently who had just crossed the Pacific on a Conser. He seemed very happy with it and was suggesting lots of days of more than 200 miles.
