Of these the vast majority own. I was actually expecting the opposite to be true. Perhaps the other 84.8% that chose not to cast a vote are the non boat owners.

- more than a few weeks. Owning really is your only choice. You can't afford to charter
for many months. Fractional ownership
commonly tends to fall into 1 month or a bit more.
I guess what I am saying is I think the poll
isn't the most well considered poll, though the topic is interesting hence many people came to look. The virtues of charter
, fractional and full ownership has not been a topic well discussed more than in passing and I think would be a good idea for a discussion thread. There is a 4th option - Club membership
that my wife and I did in our first year and was quite affordable without any of the work involved in ownership but a lot of time sailing. Not really an option for cruising any length of time though.
