Headroom

Hi, We are looking for a used multi-hull with plenty of headroom (my husband is 6'2"). I have a couple of questions:
1) Any ideas?
2) Has anyone ever raised the ceiling as part of a remodel/renovation?

Re: Headroom

Oh, you mean troll as in 'bot? No, I am woman who apparently asked a stupid question. I am new to this forum, new to multihulls.
I did notice that neither of you helpful folks bothered to respond to my first question asking suggestions for multihulls with adequate headroom for someone who is 6'2.

The ceilings are generally a structural part of the boat, so not simple to modify them, but of course anything is possible with enough time and money.

Might look at an open bridgdeck cat (e.g. wharram) that you can add a cabin,
make them as tall as you want.

Re: Headroom

I don't think you'd have much trouble finding a production boat with 6'2 headroom.

+1. I am 193 cm (about 6ft 3 in old fashioned speak) and have no problem on my own boat (seawind 1000XL) or any of the Seawinds or Outremers and most of the other production boats would have as much. Ad yes some production manufacturers will make changes in build, I had one client who was short and needed the saloon seating raised, thats all doable for my builders, and I would think most.

After the build, I think would be more money that it was worth for a proper sound job.

I am 6'4"'and we have owned 8'catamarans. Some with headroom others without. To be honest, for me headroom is not one of my priorities. I've always gotten used to the headroom available on the boat we have.

Re: Headroom

Micreative, you probably should post a price range, since some of the boats mentioned here are very pricy. I think you will find (my generality) that cruising cats are much more expensive than cruising tris. If you repost this on the multihull section of our forum, with a price range and usage, ie, daysailing, coastal cruising, ocean crossing, you will get information more towards your needs. Good Luck, _____Grant.

Hi,
Part 2 has been covered, as to suggestions for part 1:
What price range, what objectives, accommodations etc. are required by you? eg day sail, coastal cruising, long distance cruising etc.
Welcome to CF.
Cheers,
Mac

LOL. Grant posted same points as I was typing.

My Privilege 435 has at least 6 ft 4 headroom in the salon and more elsewhere. I know this because that's how tall my brother in law is.

Did I mention it's for sale?
