The other nearby DIY spot w/ sailboat access is Playboy Marine Center. Ensure their yard hours are compatible w/ your requirements.

Re: DIY Boat Yards in South Flordia

We were there May last year, called them on a Tuesday morning when we got cell service had a sail drive freeze up on us near Shark River. After sailing through bridge 5 tried sailing north in 20+ knot head winds in hawk channel no good. Had towboat us tow us to Key Largo. They had 4 guys there well after dark and closing time to tie us up in the lifting slip, slept on the boat right there. In the am they pulled us right away and were on the hard by 9:00 am. Had a friend bring a new sail drive down from St Pete. After a trip to West Marine for mics items we started at 10 am. Had new drive and engine back in by 6:00 that evening. Unfortunately if we had finished an hour earlier we could have splashed the same day. Because they didn't have any other boats coming or going they per our request left the lift right over the boat. Saved a couple of hours..... Spashed the next morning Thusday, tied up at friends home at crash corner washed the boat left at 10:00 am, for gulf stream crossing...arrived in Cat island befor dark....

They were great at helping us with our time schedule, if they had delayed us our window for the crossing would have been a full week later.

There were no extra expenses for the services provided.. the only item was pressure washing the bottom they require when you pull. Could have done without, but they do that for the benefit of others...could be smelly for your neighbors.

I can not speak for there work as we DIY but the service we received was excellent.

That seems to fit the picture we experienced while at Catamaran Boat Yard.
The owner Matt is putting a lot of effort out to please customers.
Hopefully it will continue along with the affordable rates.

Yes, Catamaran Boatyard is much improved. I have been very happy the last two visits with both Sam the owner and his son Matt. I had switched to Bob & Annie's several years ago because of some bad treatment I had received but happy to be back at Catamaran Boatyard. Nothing wrong with Bob & Annie's, it's just not as convenient to be on a railway. I just feel to rushed and its a bit out of the way.

We noticed your review and my Wife as well as myself always give every ones
thoughts and comments valued consideration. Your comment seems rather strong
in light of the many positive reviews. We in our first experience had a positive
experience and if we require services in that area of our travels again we would go
back. We note you have a 36' cat and most likely a narrow beam thus your options
are much broader. By the way when did you have this issue, looks like sometime ago.

Pretty sure Robbie’s boatyard in Key West could handle you.

Re: DIY Boat Yards in South Flordia

Was not aware Lauderdale Marine would allow a DiY bottom job. Scorpion in Port Everglades will not but they can haul a wide 28'++ beam and I've heard from my customers that the quotes rates for bottom work are better than Lauderdale and SAMC always bills 50% over estimate.

Have a customer with a 54' cat at Scorpion now. Will check in to see how it worked out.
