Re: Any feedback from Miami boat show and news on Antares?

I wish our boat show was as nice as the Miami one. Here in San Diego we had 0 catamaran builders present.

I've been looking at 2 catamarans lately and hope I can narrow my choice down to one shortly. The L48 and the Lagoon 450.

I'm new here and I am also starting a blog so that my friends can follow us on this adventure.

I want to know where you all find a good broker?

It's not a case of whether it's a good show or not, they don't bother showing Cats in S California because there is very little market for Cats there. The West Coast is mono country, Florida and the Caribbean is Cat country. It's even skinnier Cat country in the PNW, you need real good heat in a boat and the real killer is no dock space. The East and West coasts are very different markets.

^ I get that. Still wish it was not so. It makes it harder for me because I now need to transplant the family to the south east coast to make this happen.

It's better here anyway!

We are debating going to the South Africa show in October. If we are going to buy it would be the perfect time to visit factories before making a decision.

I forgot to mention that Antares is hopeful of finding a boat for the Annapolis show in October. If they can't they plan to build a boat specifically for the show next year. I hope they can because they need to have a presence again soon.

Don't listen to me, I know little to nothing.....

I advise looking at some of the non production cats before decision time, whatever hardship that entails for you. Make sure you are happy with build quality before purchase.

I don't anticipate using a broker if we buy new.
