valiant 50

Oneday (10 years or so)I may want to get a smaller boat. I looked at the Valiant 50 a few years ago and loved it. Is the Valiant as good as they say it is? What other boats in the 50' range are as good or better than the Valiant?

That's a very loaded question. Valiant 50 is a real good boat. It is an extended Valiant 47 which once won old version of around alone. Howver there are lots of really good 'smaller' boats in the 45-52 foot range. it's all about money at that point. How much and what do you like. Contenders for ocean cruisers could include but not be limited to : Hallberg Rassey, Swan, Passport, Moody, Valiant, Taswell, Shannon, Alden, Oyster, Wauquiez, etc. those are the off the top of my head ones. They are all very different and depending on age can vary significantly within the brand. Have fun dreaming of the next boat.

Jon , I guess you anwsered my question when you said "real good boat". I like the Valiant 50 and I am very happy with what I have but one day I may want something smaller and with some newer equipment. As the Valiants age the prices should come down and I may buy one if I want to keep cruising.
