UNGEMUETLICH!

Well, progress on the dinghy has been so slow as to be a source of embarrassment. So today I went down to do some more marking out and found, when for some reason, I was uneasy, that I had marked out the dimensions of the frames wrong.

So I flipped that panel over, and am starting the process over again...with more checking.

At least, it was before I cut.

;-)

Yep. 'Measure twice, cut once!' Happened to me more than once ... to remember this one ... just a bit 'too late' ;-)

Happy building!

Cheers,
b.

Re: UNGEMUETLICH!

Making something like a dingy sounds easy. Haha... then you find out!

Cut and cut and cut and it's still too short!

Re: UNGEMUETLICH!

My question would be: Why is this 'ungemuetlich'? ;-)

Regards,

Carsten

I had to look that word up.

Ungemuetlich:
inconvenient, comfortless, without comfort or consolation, inopportune

Well, Steady Hand, in the comment below yours, summed it up pretty well...but a more complete answer would be that in 1986, I watched an English soldier, from the BOAR, get slapped in the head by a German girl for something (I didn't see what). He was quite drunk, and shouted something like "Gemuetlichkeit my ****! UNGEMUETLICH UNGEMUETLICH!"

The word became for my Section (I was Section Chief of a FIST) a humorous exclamation when things went mildly to severely wrong with our Track or Equipment, and so forth....

Re: UNGEMUETLICH!

Well, that's better. I have marked out frames A, B, D, Transom and Bow Apron. I'm about to mark out "frame" E.

Frame C is actually just a sectional drawing with two standing knees, with the shapes to be taken from the hull.

Frames A and E were to be likewise, but with the approval of the designer they are now frames and bulkheads to create an air tank (frame E) and and an air tank/water tight storage (frames A and B). the design relied on buoyancy bags, like those in a kayak or canoe...but I wanted built in and dry storage under a sleeping platform.

A trip to the Lumber yard tomorrow and I will be ready to FINALLY cut out the frames, bow and first layer of the transom.

Measure it with a micrometer / Mark it with chalk / Cut it with an axe!
