This is where I am starting!!!

The deal just closed on my Landfall 38. I am a proud boat owner. Scared. Excited. Humbled.
I love her already...and believe she has a soul?!
Do you think boats have souls?

Re: This is where I am starting!!!

Of COURSE boats have souls! Once you get to know her, at sea, you will find she talks to you. ; )

Best of luck. She's lovely. What are you going to name her? Or do you already like the current name? (Be warned: I may've just opened a can of worms, as there are all sorts of maritime superstitions around the naming of boats...)

Fair winds!

Re: This is where I am starting!!!

Thanks..I think she is gorgeous but i know that at some point, she will most likely drive me nuts.
She is called CROSSWINDS...which is lovely so its a keeper...yeah I heard that to change the name, you have to walk around with sage or something--go through some kind of a cleansing process
Crosswinds I can live with.

Being a former C&C owner myself, I really appreciate one that's been kept in good shape. She looks fantastic. Best of luck.

Re: This is where I am starting!!!

I am afraid 15 years down the road I could be tempted to half believe some do. Ours, for one.

How otherwise justify talking to it, her?

Lucky duck - happy new boat period begins! Congrats!

They do, however it is spelled sole!

My boat, and many others, also have spirits. Some have lots of spirits. It is considered good form for a guest to bring the captain's favourite spirit. It is also best if one keeps the spirits off the sole.

Re: This is where I am starting!!!

It's more a matter of what type of soul a boat has. An older boat probably has a good one or a past owner would have killed it!

Enjoy your Happy Old Soul Boat!!

Do you think boats have souls?
Absolutely! Our old boat (she's been converted to a houseboat), who has looked after us for 37 years, has a beautiful soul. We are currently on the market to sell her, so we can buy a sailing boat and a house in the South of Europe, and it breaks our hearts to know that she will be sold for scrap if we do find a buyer. She let's us know that she doesn't want us to leave her... Geez, I might just be persuading myself to stay!
