Tartan ten - bluewater ?

Thanks for the info .... I'm getting a tartan ten and planing to sail from Quebec to Panama to Haiti ....
I'm pretty sure I need to modify the interior with adding a real toilet etc.
Please let me know your concern ?

The one I've sailed was a beat up old race boat, the interior is fine for passagemaking, but not comfortable. The deck was the problem, you'll want a really good dodger, and build some sort of a breakwater to stop the incessant flow of water into the cockpit, there is really nothing to keep you dry in the cockpit.

Not sure about the ten, but similar boats of other manufaturers are cored hulls for super light stiffness. By now many are totally waterlogged.... The hardware, chainplates etc on these boats is almost dingy sized! There is probably a user's group on Yahoo groups or something like that. I know there is for the Mega 30. Read those... you'll find out about all the issues.

yes, the TEN is balsa cored above the waterline, below it's very thin solid glass

Every boat, is different. Year made, hull material, and how well maintained all have a lot to do with it. I'm currently on my circumnavigation on a racing Santana 35 sailboat. I spent cyclone season in the societies and seen nasty weather...not to mention I sailed from hawaii to marquesas (all upwind) hans christian that left with me could not go upwind. A tartan might be a great boat.

Yeah, just remember, if all the stuff isnt there and in decent shape (Sails , bottom etc) It's super easy to put $10k in a $2k value boat!

Are you saying that the market value of it is 2k$
However it is good to know .
I'm not afraid of the sails because my wife is a dressmaker and has all the equipment at home the most important is to know that if I get everything rolling the max value is 2k$

No idea for sure... depends on condition. The mega 30, Tarten ten, Aprodite 101's seem nearly impossible to sell from what I've seen... probably due to deterioration. I turned down a Mega 30 with all the bells and whistles (no trailer) in 2011, inlcuding two sets of racing sails and outboard 4hp motor. One set of North sails had been used lightly one season. Upholstery had been garage stored mostly since new to save weight. original owner 90 years old, boat sat unsed for at least 3 years, grass 6" long on bottom, quarter sized blisters visible. Spiders in residence! $1000
