Sliding companionway hatch

Proud owner of a Vancouver 25, a pocket cruiser with quite a few quirks, but I love that thing. One of these quirks involves a leaky companionway sliding hatch. Even if I imagine that sliding sheet in its original beauty and thickness, I cant imagine that thing was ever tight. I don't see any seals or gasket or strips or whatever that would prevent for water to get around that acrylic sheet.

Not a big deal you might think, there is this gutter that would collect and prevent any rainwater to enter the boat. Yes, but....

One of the Vancouver quirks, and maybe only mine has that problem, facilitates flow of fresh rainwater right down into the cabin, because that gutter is sloping towards the bow,, and therefore nothing runs off into the cockpit, as per original design....

Short of drilling a hole at the lowest point in this gutter, and attaching a hose to the bilge, do you see a less invasive solution?

Thanks for any suggestion
Michael
