Welcome aboard ferrailleur,

I've been sailing a 1974 Halberg-Rassy 35 mostly solo for the last 7 years. Being an older boat, I have less money tied up in it... so I don't mind little bumps and scrapes so much. She has less free-board than a newer larger boat making it easier to hop on and off. And yet, there is room for cooking, sleeping, and relaxing.

I suspect I could handle a 40+ footer now if I felt I needed more room.
