Pearson 35

I do think that the dink is a great looking dink, that said, I think the Pearson is very well done, the paint job looks great and it is a lighter color than it looked in the other picture. Overall I can only hope mine comes out nearly as good. I like the conversion of the main fixed ports to individual opening units. I did replace the original plastic ports forward with quality metal opening ports but at least on this go round I'm stuck with the mains. My dink by the way is an inflatable, I do like the hard dink better.

Those pretty boat pictures don't show an anchor. My I recommend an Ultra?

Still haven't finished the non skid so the anchor roller and anchor are sitting in the garage. Have a 35# Manson Supreme with 130' of chain and the rest line. Mahalo for the heads up on the Ultra. Looked at them at the Oakland boat show a few years ago. Had my checkbook out to buy one until they told me the price. Hell of a nice piece of bling for the bow but a trifle too dear for me.

Can I ask if anyone has done anything with the main cabin companionway? The slide-ins that I have are getting shabby and I'm trying to visualize some kind of entry door. Also, I would like to post pictures of the interior restoration but I'm not sure how too go about it. There are probably 25 or more images!

- Anchor locker with deck access
- Water tanks under settees
- New rigging and lifelines
- New electronics
- hard top

Basically, apart from the mast, engine and bare fiberglass hull, everything is gonna be new

Personally I'm just going to use smoked plexiglass drop-in washboards, but I've seen some (non-Pearson 35) boats that use large waterproof hatches that are installed at an angle and go over the bridgedeck.

I suppose very waterproof, I don't think they look really convenient though for a comfortable cruiser

I would love to see anyone's photos for inspiration though I'm tying to keep the interior work to the bare min. at least for now. One day I'll rip out the woodwork and flooring

I'd think twice before adding an anchor locker on the bow. If you have an anchor roller, the anchor will be sitting on that so no need for a place to stow it. With an electric windlass, the rode will feed nicely into the chain locker so will only need to cut a puka for it in the windlass base.

Anchor lockers have a huge lid if they are going to be large enough to easily stow an anchor. Those lids are notorious for getting ripped off by boarding waves. If that happens you will be adding several hundred pounds of weight until the water drains out. Anchor lockers are for racers that leave them empty to save weight.

Ah well that's why I have 2x 1.5" drain holes ,and over-sized strap hinges. The amount of space that is in the bow of a deep, full-keel boat like the Pearson 35 is amazing and fits much more than just 2 anchors and rodes -- docklines, fenders etc all go in there. Compared to the v-berth access hatch (whcih would never really get used because of the difficulty in access alone), this is way better. I don't like weight up front, so if I'm off on a long-distance trip, the anchor comes off the bow roller and is stowed in the locker, the lower the better. The bow water tank is gone too.
