Moving Boat by Truck: Queensland, Australia

My boat is 800 km away from where I want it to be. With all the floods and bad weather, I was wondering about trucking it down from Townsville rather than trying to sail it. It is a 27 footer so not too huge.

Anyone have any ideas on costs or problems with getting a boat moved this way?

Shouldn't be a major issue.

Price will depend upon the dimensions and whether it needs an escort etc.

Being a relatively small boat, you might save a few bucks if you were prepared to wait and use a backload service.

trade a boat has a number of ads for companies that provide this service. Email your dimensions and they will send you a quote.

You will need a travelift or crane at each end

"I get knocked down but I get up again" eventually.

I looked in to trucking my 36' cruiser down to Port Stephens from Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast but it was too cost prohibitive for me. I also looked into hiring a skipper and crew to motor it down but again it was going to be way too expensive so I am now going to be doing it myself.

If you have the time and can afford to take it easy on the way down then it would definitely be the cheaper option.
