Mizzen Stays'l

The spreaders on my mizzen are swept aft slightly. So I'm wondering if my mast has the strength to support a Mizzen stays'l? If not what would need to be done to make it work and would it be worth the effort/expense? I'd also be interested in the opinions of those who have used this sail as to its value.

I don't even have mizzen spreaders, running backs or a tight mizzen sheet against the topping lift work well.

Used reaching. The mast must be supported by permanent or running backstays, unless spreaders designed to counter the load.

Thanks for the replies, if I do buy the sail I'll rig running backstays

It looks from your photo that you have a fixed backstay on the mizzen unless that is a topping lift for the mizzen boom. That should be plenty strong enough.

I've been looking into a mizzen spinnaker w/ a sock vs the stays'l, check out the Dashew's videos for some insight on ketches. Your spreaders are fine and as long as the masthead has a run for another halyard you should be good to go! FYI - the swept back spreaders are to keep the pole from "pumping"...
