Did a google search on Yanmar YSM8 -

Yanmar YSM8 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

It even has that chain drive thingie on it.

I think I recall noticing that your engine had a multiple pulley and I was going to ask about that. It looks like you might be missing a pump. Water pump?

Would you spend 10000 on that boat if all that was fixed becuse that is not even close to what you will spend on it. a new motor is what 3 to 5 alone. what are they asking for it. i bought a 72 oday for 4000 in perfect sailing shape. you should really take it off there hands for free. they cant really think some one is really going to give them 5000 for a boat that dosent even move or sail. Have you really done your shopping. goto New and Used Yachts for Sale - YachtWorld.com look at boats in the price range your about to spend. you will see what you can really get for that kind of money. they shold give you the boat just to get rid of it. Do you want to sail a boat or buy and fix a boat becuse your gona be fixing more than sailing and i bet thats not what you had in mind.. Be a sailor first.

Randall. This guy lives in Guam so his selection of used sailboats is very limited.

lol there is 1 boat on there in bad shape for 50k i think thats a weeeee bit outa my price range, i did gold old fashond foot work and phoning around and this is what i found, as for the moter i can restor the beast. alredy have a line with the bank for 5k and saving up so i can get it outa the watter when i get home from japan in 6 weeks. probobly cost me about... 500+ to get hauled out no boat lift on guam have to hire a crane. thats bout it for now.
crossing my fingers we actoly go today, getting old telling the frends and famly good buy evrey day for the past week..... think this ship is more broken down than the boat. crossing my fingers that the boilers dont explode agen.

Ha ha ha - I'm beginning to wonder about the US navy's ability to project a force - Ha ha... They rebuilt the Yorktown in less time...

Be careful up the mast and obviously get a good look at everything while you are there.

Great news Shadow - $1,000 is the right number. You'll have more than it's worth in it by teh time you are done but the fun of sailing what you built will be priceless...

well looks like we may be gooing out tomaro.....
have to wate till october till he gets on island to get the boat paperwork done
marinas requierments are simple
$5/foot
pwr/watter free
req underwhay once evrey 6 mounts
and costgrad safty inspect

lets see in oct im going to be hauling out getting the moter pulld and sent to the shop to be rebuilt, in that time im going to strip paint pull all thrue hulls, new stuffing box, and replace them, when bottom side is finished and repainted, remove all deck hardwhare and strip deck down and properly fill the holes and leeks, fix windows, may have to drill out busted off screws it looks like, repaint. going to replace 2 winches with self tailing so i can solo a bit ezer. i think thats all the vital things i need to do out of the watter. and sceal all the deck hardwhare back in.
