In Need Of Replacement Mast - Can Anyone ID This Boat?

Hey guys! I'm from Dallas, Texas and have a 75 MacGregor Venture of Newport 23'. The mast was recently broken in half and I'm now looking for a replacement. I've read up some on a few places to buy a new mast dwyer etc, but with shipping and everything it looks like it would be around $1200. So i'm currently scouring my local area for a used donor mast (which would be cheaper and easier). Since I'm brand new to sailing and all of this in general I have a couple of questions.

1. I'm going to take measurements of my mast tomorrow, but off hand does anyone know the dimensions of what it should be? I've heard 28' with a 3"x4" base similar to the DM-6 Dwyer shape. Can anyone confirm?

2. Ideally I would like to find my exact boat and just swap out the masts, but that doesn't seem very likely. If I can find a mast that is 28'+ and cut it down what else would I have to modify for it to fit? Will I be able to swap over all my rigging?

I know that there is a "channel" that the main sail runs up and down on, are these universal? Or are some different? How do the spreaders attach to the mast? How do the jib sails attach to the mast?

3. This is the first possible donor boat I've found. All the owner knows is it s a 22'. Can anyone ID this boat? My mast is aluminium and this one is black, could it possibly carbon fiber?

Thanks a ton for all the help!

cpa--good eye!

OP--depending on the break, it might be possible to sleeve your broken mast. Then you could use all the sails and rigging, as is. But there is also a chance to find an identical used replacement.

If you really must trade for a different boat's mast, be sure it comes with all the sails, too.
