Has anyone heard of the Venus 46?
Hi, I am looking at purchasing a boat for my family of 4 and have stumbled across a Venus 46 built by Salthouse Brothers of New Zealand in 1984.
Here is a link to the boat.
Has anyone heard of this boat before? It has been sailed extensively across oceans, so it looks like a nice boat on paper. The problem is I can't find any information about it online.
If you know anything about these types of boats, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks!

I don't know that specific design, but Salthouse has a very good reputation as builders. Do you know who designed her?

I don't know any info other than what is listed in the ad. It says designed by Salthouse Brothers, built by Dung-Song Inc Korea.

A photo would help. If it a Colin Archer type Gaff ketch, it would be a Paul Erling Johnson design. We built them in 32, 34, 42, and an extended version at 56 ft , here in Bermuda in the 70s/80s.

friend owned one here in Toronto It did many trips down East to Newfoundland a tough boat and he didn't have any major issues with it. He aged out and went to a trawler the Venus is at the Mimico cruising club still going strong. Think there were only 6 of them built.

Yes, I went aboard the ketch version a couple of years ago here in Toronto. Acres of interior wood. It looked rather nice, actually. Clearly Taiwanese built, however.

Re: Has anyone heard of the Venus 46?
Having nothing to do with fact or knowledge, my first reaction was the price does not feel right. Too low or too high, but not right. Only then did I see it was in Aus$.
