I have been sailing the last Scanmar 40 built in the original yard,
Hull No 21.
I move up from a Contessa 32 10 years ago before going off long term sailing.
Excellent
offshore cruiser, fast
seaworthy and high ballast ratio of 47%.
Have sailed her in
Scotland,
Ireland and Irish Sea waters before taking her across the Biscay and through to
Greece. There were two versions one shallow
keel and one long
keel, mine long keel 2 ton lead drawing 2 metres.
My wife and I looked at many boats before we bought the Scanmar and have never regretted it. Reaching 70 we are packing it all in now and going to do other things. She is a grand old lady who can still show a lot of more modern boats the way home, especially going to
wind. Sorry for the delay, only just seen your message. Hope this helps and if I can assist further do ask.
