- - Navtec (Lewmar) sells the Dyform used in yachts and it is different stuff. See: Wire Rigging - Dyform Wire - Navtec Rigging Solutions

But in any case it appears that yacht Dyform is becoming an endangered specie. West Marine lists it as "limited availability."

I thought my questions were pretty straight forward. Is there some reason you won't answer them?
I'm just curious about how the wire actually failed as I have never seen all 19 strands of a cable fail at the same location unless it was at the hard spot of a swage. IE just about a 1/4" inside the swage.
Is there some reason you or the riggers didn't take a photo of the failed wire?
Or is there some reason that you don't want to share the photo here?

I suspect they may well be different, though the spec is the same and the bridon visuals look exactly like what i have, 1 x 19, but RHOL instead of left.

Seems to be no problem getting it in UK. Though on the sites looked at they say..

Sorry I missed your post... Yes there are photos of it, after the whole issue is settled if I'm not asked to sign anything I will post them, they really don't show a whole lot to how it broke, but when they stressed the same wire in a lab it broke at a small fraction of its design tolerance.

Thanks, but could you please describe the "break" a little better.
Where did it break? I mean how far above the terminal? Did all the strands break at the same spot or did individual strands break at different locations?
Was the wire swaged or did you use mechanical terminals?

Mechanical, if you read further back through the thread, I did mention it happened 10m above the deck. I guess the best way to describe the break is one strand breaking at a time, but within a period of no more than 5 seconds, by the time everyone looked round at the backstay, the mast was starting to go.
