Around the first of November I was moving my boat from the Yeocomico southward.

Waited out SANDY in the Mill Creek arm of the Yeocomico. There's plenty of places in the Yeocomico to nuzzle into.

There was nothing listed at AC or in the Dozier 'Anchorages Guide' until Broad Creek, which is listed as having a difficult entrance, so we went to Jackson Creek (round the Smith Point corner) instead, and anchored across (west of) from the "Duck Blind" and found it good holding.

Next day we laid Norfolk and went in there since we were heading to points south, but you're going to Va Beach, so I'd suggest Little Creek.

I am not actually sure if anchoring is allowed or not, I only know that it is extremely tight in there and there's a lot of marinas and boat traffic making it very uncomfortable to drop a hook in there, definitely no swing room. Perhaps someone who has a slip in there could chime in. Maybe there's a remote corner? I do know that the water gets skinny when after you pass Norton's.
I just looked at NOAA's chart and there is no note on anchoring......I always anchor in Jackson Creek but have been in Broad creek many times but not anchored.

I just checked my charts and i was mistaken and had anchored in jackson creek on the other side of deltaville, little tight getting in but nice inside.

I know what you mean bad Santa, took me all day to sail to Colonial beach a few months ago.

I would suggest you consider trying to make it to Cobb Island MD after the 301 Bridge the first day. You can anchor in Neal Sound and tie up at either marina on your left before the low clearance bridge. The first marina has fuel. There are two nearby restaurants and a store. They are all owned by the same person. After finishing your business anchor out just south of the marinas. Point Lookout can be pretty rough depending on tide and wind.

I don't know if time would allow on the first leg, but you could stop in Tangier the first night and then to Cape Charles the next night. I am just not sure of the time needed to get down the Potomac.

Tangier Island is really a cultural gem, a study in human tenacity and life on the water. It is a very beautiful place that is surrounded by marsh grass and crab shanties....a real Chesapeake treasure if there ever was one! Just don't go there expecting luxury and pampering, plus if you enjoy a cocktail or such, bring your own since it is a dry island.
Be wary of the currents that rage through the channel...they go 4-5 knots at times. Get a slip at Parks marina....very reasonable. I wouldn't anchor there though I have seen boats that have and they quickly discover the edge of the channel gets really shallow.....but that may not be as big of a deal with your shallow draft on the MacGregor.
