Re bunkering, Great decision with the fuel standpipe.....

If your cruising plans are in remote 3rd world locations, you can plumb a fuel transfer pump to also be a bunkering pump, so as to monitor and control fuel from dubious containers.

On you standpipe I would specify the threaded cap to take a "Camlock fitting"

And carry the matching fitting with hose tail.

Unlike a gravity or pressure feed.....This way you can suck and monitor fuel through a proper inline filter ...the connection to boat is under vacuum (not pressure)....so no chance of a fuel spill, and you can suck the long delivery fuel line completely dry before disconnecting

So you control the rate and suck fuel from onboard..
I have used this system for many years and it works great to catch bad slugs of fuel before it gets into tank.

The hull plating has commenced

I am just exhausted here with another day of preparations for the splashing of our current boat on Monday. I was too tired yesterday to even sip the glass of wine poured for me. A first . The boat is looking immaculate in and out. Last coat of antifouling to go on tomorrow. Provisioning is completed. A massive task getting everything up the ladder!

Anyway, before I load a shot of the 8mm plating, here are two photos we took while at KM's yard of the sanded bulwark on some of the curved plates.

The punch marks indicate where the deck will be welded on:

She is about to go up for sale. An ad will be placed on Yachtworld in the next week ot two. With us being back in Australia and no broker close by, there was no point advertising seriously beforehand. The brief post on CF linked on my signature was the only ad we have placed so far.

Having been asked, I can put in a plug . The alu hull has been freshly sanded below the waterline and antifouled with Trilux 33. The engine has been serviced, prop greased, anodes changed..... A labour of love.

If she isn't snapped up quickly at the bargain price we are offering her for, we are looking forward to spending another trouble free summer on the water .

Weave, it is nothing short of jaw droppingly beautiful when seen in the flesh.

We were extremely impressed with KM's work when we visited 2 years ago and standards are as high as ever.

Yeah, but the plating isn't nearly as fair as the Besteaver... no comparison!

We have repeatedly complained to KM that the hull needs to be the other way around .

The process to turn the hull the right way up is actually a milestone. The owners are usually present, pacing nervously up and down with their fingers crossed that nothing is dropped. Celebrations follow. One of the advantages of a boat built by a small team like KM is the ability to be involved in the build process in this sort of way.

KM have also been great in allowing us access (they even opened up on Saturday and left us several hours to poke and prod our new boat). As well as the pleasure this gives, it inspires confidence that they are proud of their work. I suspect some boatbuilders would not want owners viewing some of the details of construction that would eventually be out of sight.

Unfortunately, we will be cruising in Greece when the boat is flipped, so we will miss the excitement. On the other hand, I think my stomach would be churning, so perhaps it's not such a bad thing .
