Re: A 50' is NOT a starter boat?? Right?

I learned to sail with a Soling. Although 26' OAL she had a narrow beam (6') so she let you know pretty quickly when you'd done something wrong. Very adjustable rig, even with mast bend being tunable under sail. I fear it's made me a bit of a pest when it comes to having sails set right. Having no engine made docking a challenge initially but stood me in good stead when the engine on our Westsail failed to start and I had to thread her into her slip using sail only.

Europa makes a good point about learning in a small boat. Small boat skills do read straight up, and you will need a small boat to access the one you eventually buy.

Bill, you made the jump into sailing and an Aquarious is a great boat. I will miss sailing when my sailboat is sold.

Have a blast.
