1981 Herreshoff 28

My wife and I just bought a 1981 Herreshoff 28.
She was built at Staysail Boatyard in San Diego, California.

I am hoping someone can shed some clarity on how this works.

Was there a Hereshoff mold that was shipped with building plans?
They were built in many places so I'm confused.
How did the boatyard get the hull?

The one we bought is a cutter rigged sloop with 11,500 displacement.
The retiring 71 year old English sailor has owned her for 25 years and made 2 transatlantic voyages as well as the Carribean, Bermuda and East and West coast of the US. And many many other countries including Africa.

Thanks

Oh hey endoftheroad,
I can't believe no one here has a clue about Herreshoff 28's.
I just came across this thread by searching the internet.

H28's were made in Berma, shipped on Santa's sleigh over to the out of business "staysail yachts" company. in Sandiego I believe?

Happy to help you,
Surprised no one in the world has searched Herreshoff's on the web lately to help you with information.
Cheers,
endoftheroad

Google "Walker H28 ketch" to see some of the Aussie ones. Plus, there was an H28 built in NZ as a production yacht, sloop rigged.

NZ ones here
