We did a passage race a month or two ago. Fun club race etc...

On the J24 we had me and the owner. The owners wife, 11 y/o daughter and 9 y/o son.

We won the passage race (about 3 hours) the next J was more than 30 minutes behind.

In second place by 30 seconds or so (gross time) was a Nacra 5.8. Two experienced club racers. We diced with them the whole way.

I didn't think things like that were supposed to happen.

Hey, this is SUPPOSED to be a Mono thread - and humorous. What it's NOT supposed to be is a mono bashing or mulit bashing thread. If you insist upon bashing, at least make it funny.

129 - Mono sailors Never hijack threads; never ever.... (thread *piracy* is a different matter altogether.)

[People are now staring at me as I chuckle about the "Thread Pirate Roberts", who never leaves captives alive.]

130 - Monohulls are better platforms for cannon broadsides - less reaction.

131 only 1 prop to clean

132 1/2 the waterline to keep clean and,

133 to check the condition of your bottom, just ask the multi owner to tell you, as you are healed over!

I wasn't bashing anything if you are directing your post to me. I was making fun of 126......I should have added a smiley....better?

Having sailed on one of Australasia fastest multis and many of the monos. Yes monos do chat back at you a lot more. But either will bite you equally quickly if you don't play the game right.

134 - with trailerable monos you don't have to capsize them to make them road legal beam wise.

135 - with mono you have a pile more time to cruise past that other boat full of hot ladies in bikinis and don't look like a prev by tacking back

136 - with monos you don't get that wild (yet strangely a bit of fun) ride when the boat pitchpoles.

137 - Monos can get away without piles of instrument repeaters.

138: monos cost a lot less since you are only paying for a single hull

Of course, when your boat is a power cat, I suppose you always are in the groove when the engines are on. I meant the kind without noise...

I don't know what number we're on anymore but here goes...

Lightning in the area presents less of a sphincter tightening moment when you're in a mono.

Catamaran lightning protection

Why? With all that metal in the water providing a good path for the lightning surely you would make a better target?
