Ok well, lettuce know what a sailable survivable boat 30' and under w/ @ 5k lbs displacement for 70 knts windies and 22 ft seas.

My choice: 24-32 ft Cape Dory, Bristol, PSC, Bristol Channel, Shannon.

Not what I said. 30' waterline is longer than 30' LOA. And 5,000 lbs ballast is a lot more than 5,000 lbs displacement.

You'll never catch me in 22' seas in a mini-boat. I'm sailing a 40' waterline these days with almost 10,000 lbs balast, and that suits me fine.

i luuuved my contessa 26'. i wuuud sail it anywhere anytime...ecept u cant stand upp excepy on a heel. Hard to choose another after havin it.

It also depends on how many people you want to have on board, as well as how your skill set.

I know of a successful journey with 3618 nautical mile journey with 18 people on board on a 23 foot launch.

Another great small bluewater boat is the Albin Vega, it's got a little more room below than tne Contessa.
