San Francisco to Sea of Cortez

Hi folks, I'm new here and not sure if I'm in the correct forum. I'm looking for advice on the best time of year to leisurely sail a 35 foot sloop from the Bay Area to the Sea of Cortez. I don't particularly want to wait for the Baja Ha Ha, yet have heard of hurricane activity through the summer months. Any comments?

The reason so many, including the Baha Haha rally, wait until the beginning of November is that most insurance companies stipulate that they won't cover you for that trip until the end of hurricane season, which lasts until the end of October.

No hurricanes her on the west coast.. but the summer season brings in some strong winds when headed south.. like SF in the afternoon..and then you have to tend with the fog.. the fall season brings a more favorable trip.. but you can always harbor hop your way south and once around the corner at conception the weather becomes nicer..

Not in California, but the southern end of Baja does get hit pretty badly on occasion.
