Selling Boat in New Caledonia

Hello...I'm looking for info on selling our off-shore boat in New Caledonia.
Does anybody have first-hand experience with this, IE import taxes, bureaucratic headaches, time allowed in-country, good brokers, etc.

Thanks,
John

Could be quite expensive. There are limits on time allowed in NC depending on country of origin. Taxes are likely to be high. I suggest you contact Noumea Yacht Services at Port Moselle for advice or alternatively the marina office at Port Moselle. You will find both very helpful.

Spindrift...Thank you for your reply. I will contact both of the parties you mentioned tomorrow.
Yes, I'm finding that it will be both expensive and difficult. We've resigned ourselves to crossing to New Zealand now, so we'll be enjoying New Cal as best we can before prepping for the passage.
Again, thanks.
John

John,

Ocealys has some contacts in Noumea, you may be able to speak with them although they may have left for London already. Why not Australia? Much more money there than NZ and you can still sail there this season.

PS Noumea is a cat market, sorry could not help that!!!

Dave

A mate of ours sailed to Australia and tried to sell his boat there. The authorities found the advertisement, impounded the boat and he was darn near arrested for tax evasion.

Cheers
Lisa
