Indonesia - Tarakan, East Kalimantan

Greetings!

We have our CAIT and Sponsor Letter, inward clearance to be done at abovementioned port.... heard from someone last week that we should be using an Agent (@ 260 Aussie Dollars!!!!!) - Agent says it's necessary to use him as we need to give 48 hour notice of arrival (this is news to us) - we know that there are cruisers who have managed to clear into other Indo ports with minimal hassle.....

We would be interested to hear from anyone who has cleared into Tarakan... - or perhaps even other Indo ports...

Thanks!

Indo clearance sorted!

Well it's all sorted! - the clearance into Indo at Tarakan was a piece of cake and took a total of 7 hours... which is not bad for Indo. No need for an Agent... no talk of paying a "bond"... no palm greasing. What a pleasure. Here's a tip: if you go to Customs first, they will drive you to Immig, Harbour Master and Quarantine. As usual, everyone had a smile on their dial and couldn't do enough to for us.
