Winter haulout in Chesapeake area.

Hi All, we are an Australian couple on a FP He'lia44 looking to store our boat in the upper Bay area. The boat is 24'5 " wide 44' long and our preference would be to lift and dry store during the winter period( six months actually). We are currently in Cambridge ,Maryland and would love to arrange something as soon as possible
Anyone out there that may be able to share information on the options available to us.
Thanks Gordon.

A catamaran? If so you may need to explore the Marina at Georgetown MD on the Sasafrass River

Have you talked to Yacht Maintenance in Cambridge?

Try Dickerson Harbor in Oxford, Md. We have stored our power catamaran inside there for a couple winters. Not sure what maximum beam they can haul. They were much cheaper than Georgetown when we were getting quotes a couple years ago. We've been happy with them.

Herrington Harbor North sees a lot of big cats. In-water rates are murder, but dry is pretty fair.

Re: Winter haulout in Chesapeake area.

We've also used Long Cove off the Chester near Rock Hall. Very reasonable dry storage.

Try Hartge Yacht Harbor. They do dry storage. It's where we bought our boat from stored on the hard.

Check out Georgetown Yacht Basin on the Sassafras River. They haul out large boats and they have an excellent reputation.

Re: Winter haulout in Chesapeake area.

I'll second Herrington Harbor North for storage on the hard. The prices are fair but the service is spectacular. I have wet slipped and am currently on the hard with our new to us T42 and the yard is clean and easy to access. There are good vendors on site and a West Marine. Several other services nearby, a great hardware store down the road and 20 minutes from Annapolis, 45 minutes from BWI airport.

That said - also talk to Brian and Olde Bay in the Baltimore area, he is a great guy and if he can pull you, he is probably cheaper. I have known Brian for nearly 30 years and have never heard a bad thing about him.

Avoid the marina named after the white rocks at rock creeks entry at all costs. A good number of us locals have nightmares over them.

Re: Winter haulout in Chesapeake area.

Check with Pleasure Cove Marina on Bodkin Creek in Pasadena, MD. When I was there they hauled a lot of cats up to 25' beam.

Tell them Patti & Mike on s/v "Lauren Marie" sent you.
