re: Where to Refit in the Eastern Med

We just did that at Cleopatra in Preveza Greece. Very well run, haul out/relaunch and power washing and daily charges much cheaper than Malta, Marina de Ragusa or many other places we checked the costs were. Also good on the work itself. Do get estimates from them on anything you want them to do. You can do your own work too. You can either live in the boat, or stay in one of their simple rooms for 55 euros a night. Bring cash to pay for the labor you hire to save money
Only work that wasn't well done was by the sailmaker who replaced a lifeline and needed to be told to fix his work.
The chandlerie also charged for too many liters of anti fouling but corrected it when we noticed the error on the bill
I will get photos of the work and the boat yard up on Home - Golden Glow soon

Good luck

re: Where to Refit in the Eastern Med

Are we talking about refit or general maintenance. Two very different things.

SimonV,
Projects I am considering: standing rigging, through hulls, electronics, importing equipment if it makes sense....I think you get the idea.

when it came to importing things we needed for our work at Cleopatra, if it wasn't already in Athens, we couldn't get it. So Marmaris, Yacht Marine or other boat yards, would probably work better.

Re: Where to Refit in the Eastern Med

We did a refit several years ago at Marti Marina, a short bus ride from Marmaris. The setting is beautiful and we negotiated a rate over winter. The marina runs a service into Marmaris & as the other postings say you can get just about anything.

Re: Where to Refit in the Eastern Med

Hi George, My apologies in my late reply , I have been away in the bush on safari , with no outside contact .
The details are - Asperakis Boat Yard www.asperakis.gr
Gregory Asperakis mob. 00306945929570
Panagiotis Asperakis mob.00306944510033
There is a very simple Taverna on the beach within easy walking distance and a village on the coast about 6 or 7 minutes away by scooter - longer term scooter hire is about 10 Euros p/day . The town of Aigina is about 15 minutes by scooter which has 2 or 3 small chandler shops , but Piraeus by ferry is close with ferry of all types very frequent . The yards all arrange del / collection to Piraeus all the time.
The yard is simple but suits me so far , my boat has been in Aktio Marina in Preveza for 4 x years , I was very happy there ,but getting there was tedious and motoring up and down the Gulf of Corinth ( and cost ) was becoming an issue , so hence the move .
If you need any further information please contact me
