Upgrading electrical system

Upgrading my house bank and charging system in phases. My two cheap 8Ds are dead, my Charles batt charger is toast, my alternator is undersize and I don't have solar. Upgrading the system for cruising and life away from shore power most of the time. Goal is to install battery and charger first. Then upgrade alternator and external regulator. Lastly, add solar and controller. Currently researching components to insure that everything is compatible and properly sized in capacity/capability. Lots of info available discussing individual components - but looking for what you might call a 'single source' reference for designing the all encompassing system - batts, charger, alt, regulator, solar panels, controller, etc... Not planning to add genset in foreseeable future. Single source reference/document/website/etc?
