Traditional Sailing Craft

I thought it might be interesting to have a thread where we can post examples of tradional sailing craft. I was reading Amyr Klink's "Endless Sea" and he was talking about Jangada, the traditional fishermans craft of Brazil. He expecially liked the rigging details, everything from rope and wood. Even the anchor was a stone wrapped in would and bound with rope. These craft venture well out into the open sea for days at a time.

pirate Re: Traditional Sailing Craft

Well... Legend has it that the Polynesians/Hawaiians and Maori's originally fled from India over 3500 yrs ago after being defeated by the 'gods' and headed East... so I guess some of these are in order seeing how far and widely they spread...
But as I said... itsa Legend..
