Time limit to stay in arch country of caribbean

What is the time limit to stay in each country by visa requirement. Is that you can just hop around border?

How about in hurricane season? Is most people leave with the boat?

It all varies from Island to Island, 3 months is an average time allowed to stay. Many allow you to keep the boat there longer for hurricane season but you must be careful to ensure that the forms are filled in correctly, boats have been impounded and import duty charged. Often the boat yard will help with the forms. Curacao Marine have a special status with customs so that boats can stay on the hard for hurricane season.

In Bonaire it is 3 months but we were able to obtain an extension for an extra 3 months but it cost $374/person. If you scuba dive Bonaire is a fantastic place to spend hurricane season.

assuming you are talking about the caribbean -- it depends based on each country - but you also need to look at your insurance and each varies somewhat - ours had us south of 10.5 or something like that which left us with trinidad, panama, colombia and the abc's - the problem in our opinion with the abc's is not getting there but getting out - we spent one season in panama/colombia in either one you could stay through hurricane season but we chose to visit both and had a great time -- the following year we stayed in trinidad and we got 90 days that could be extended once - but if you left the country then the time started over again - for example the admiral went back to the usa to visit her son and my son came down to trini - i had to be out of the country by jan 2 while she got a new 90 days on her return on dec 27th --

Some of the Caribbean states are restrictive (BVI - usually 3 weeks then you have to apply for an extension) and others are generous (Dominica comes to mind). Many are EU states or EU extraterritorial.

You best bet is to check www.noonsite.com which has accurate information regarding each country.

Oh, I believe I read here this morning that Curacao has extended their visa rules recently to let sailors stay during the hurricane season.

Which island are you talking about? "The Caribbean" consists of something like 30 separate, distinct, and independent nations. As you have already been told, each one has their own laws, and each one is a little bit different from the next. You have to check each one separately.

Still the best answer is to go to this website www.noonsite.com and look at each island, each country because each one is very different.

But if you cannot do that then this is the best answer I can give.

The majority of the countries in the Caribbean when you check in you will be given a visa for at least one month or maybe up to six months.

Also, the majority of the islands in the Caribbean you can leave the island and stay away for some time and then go back for some additional time. The time you stay away will be a few days or a few months.

What the majority of people do is exactly what you have been told to do, more than once now, but seem to be unwilling to do. That is, check the rules for each separate country that they plan to visit.

But apparently you only want a simple answer that comes to you with no effort whatsoever. So here you go...

Go to any country you want. Spend as much time as you want. Don't worry about visas, checking in, checking out, or anything else. Don't bother with documents for your boat, or even yourself. Heck! Don't even bother taking a passport!

Just go, and enjoy the time you get to spend in some lovely Caribbean prisons.

Gpolar, Just to clear the air on the BVI's. You can be granted up to 30 days stay at the airport or harbor check ins. Should you want to stay longer, as many of us do who own boats based down there, you have to go to Road Town (the city) to the Immigration headquarters to apply for an extension, which is almost always granted. As for a cruising permit, I don't know as we annually purchase a temporary importation permit allowing us to keep a USCG documented vessel in the territory for the entire year. Cost $200. George
