Hmmm, maybe catamarans are different. Blood letting does not seem to be a requirement for a successful repair. Expensive or favorite tools dropped overboard, well, that seems to be effective!

I fully understand this issue. As I have become older and my skin has thinned I have learned that blood letting is not actually essential.
Foot ware gloves and the right tool resolve so many accidents.
I'm not anti life jackets but i consider the basics of work place health and safety more important.
It's very difficult to sail a boat with even simple injuries. Look after yourself.

Funny or perhaps not so funny you mentioning as you get older... With or without gloves I seem to abrade my skin often in the area between the wrist and elbow. All I need do is try to put my arm between something with a wrench and...where did that blood come from?!! I keep plenty of tissues on the boat.

I have SCARS from those things!

It really takes a good pair of flush cuts to make sure there is no edge left on the tail.

I was trimming a piece of thin ply to size to replace some that had rotted around a leaky port light and slipped with the razor knife(wrong tool for the job, I know... I was being impatient) when I called the admiral to tell her I was going to the ER for some sutures she shrieked “You’re not bleeding all over the sole, are you?!” Needless to say the repair looked wonderful when I was finally done

It’s even worse when you are thin skinned and take Plaxix like I do. I’ll look down and see big drops of blood on the floor, then have to find where it came from! I don’t see how that happens and you not feel something.

I use a tie wrap cutter gun. Knives and diagonal cutters don't always work the way we want. You can find good used ones on fleabay. New quality ones cost a small fortune. Proper tool for the job! Yea we all do that, right?!
