Simrad Robertson rpu1 1500/2000 pump 12v

I am trying to find either a replacement autopilot pump (simrad rpu1 1500/2000 12v) or the technical spec on this unit. It is a constantly on pump with directional solenoids. If I can match the flow rate and pressure I should be able to install something else more readily available.
Can anyone direct me to the technical specs for this unit. Or can anyone direct me to a suitable off the shelf replacement that will connect directly to the solenoid control wiring.

What drive are you trying to repair?

Re: Simrad Robertson rpu1 1500/2000 pump 12v

We have a simrad ap20 running a simrad Robertson rpu1 1500/2000 which drives a Wagner TA12B 90cu hydraulic steering.

I would like to have a complete rpu1 so if the current one (which works) were to fail when we are out at sea, I can swap it out quickly.

These things tend to fail when you're 2000 miles off shore with no hope of repair.

I don't mind if it is not the same unit but it would have to be able to plug and play with the solenoid controls coming from the ap20.

I can find lots of simrad pumps (rpu160 rpu300 etc) but I don't think these pumps operate the same way. I think these only pump when the autopilot tells them to and pump in one direction or the other depending on which way the boat needs to turn. Mine pumps all the time, (constant on) and the autopilot tells the solenoids to open or shut directing the flow one way or the other.
Obviously I'm no expert hence the question.
I understand this type of system is used on larger boats where the volume of hyd fluid/flow is a bit bigger. It seems that there must be other replacement options but I am not sure where to start.
I don't know if one of the reversing type pumps could plug straight in?

Just realised that it is an rpu3 not an rpu1. Don't know if that makes any difference.

Hypro (in the UK) are really helpful people.

They may be able to help you with a replacement - or give you good advice about using a reversible pump

My advice would be to keep checking on EBAY. Simrad Robertson autopilot parts show up fairly frequently. I just scored a new control head for my AP35 after having it on my "watch list" for a couple of weeks. Last year I bought a hydraulic ram unit to carry as a spare, and recently found a J300X junction module, also as a spare.
