Parts needed for my Northern 1/4 Ton 24' sailboat

I'm a new member and had some bad luck last year lowering my mast with the help of a couple of friends that are old like me and newbies. While lowering the mast for winter storage we lost control and it fell over at 45 degrees. The only damage was major! The aluminum mast mounting plate is now twisted and torn.

I could also use a new depth sounder transducer and the transducer for the speedometer has paddles broken.

My daughter and I love the boat and this boat is all I can afford. Yes she is a 1978 but in very good shape otherwise. Lake Ontario is our sailing area.

Hoping someone has one sitting around okay for parts.

regards,
Mal

Could you post a picture of each part needed?

The mounting plate might have to be fabricated, but it really shouldn't be very costly.

I actually have something really close to that, somewhere here at home. I'll see if I can find it tomorrow.

Look at post 52 on that thread. There is a picture of my hinge and the mast it came off of. If you think it could be made to work let me know.

A good welding shop may be able to fix it for you.

I agree with Tomsayers. Any good tog welding shop should be able to straighten, reeled and even reinforce this part.
Failing that a custom casting shop that does sand castings can make you a new one. Cost should be reasonable. Have info here in Manitoba if you need.
Try the welding shop first.

Contact Tim Doel at Klacko Spars Ltd. in Oakville. They were the original builder for C&C spars then went out on their own. One of the very few survival stories in the Canadian marine industry. They have a huge inventory of used spar parts taken off spars they have replaced. That casting was high volume in the 70's with many Ontario boat builders. They will need the spar section dimensions and the photo you posted will help. If they don't have one they can give you a reliable repair, and a visit to their shop is worth the trip.

That picture of the bottom of the mast looks similar. Do you have a way of including a picture of the part the mast fits into and the sizes to see how close it is?

Thanks,
Mal

I will look for it today. I would check with klacko, too. That sounds like a good lead for an exact match.

The Mirage 24 and C&C 24 are the same boat. There is plenty around.
Klacko looks like your best bet. good luck
