New Motor looks kinda funny

sounds funny but was going to take my brand new Honda and paint it black, then flat orange, beat it up with a hammer, put duck tape over a fake hole. Take off the grip and do something there. HECK its only a cover right? Seems like that would trick the bad guys? Right? Dan Boot Key Florida. hey by the way any of my boot key buddies in here?

Re: New Motor looks kinda funny

Having had a 5hp Honda and a rib (both 3 months old) stolen off the back of my boat (Syd Oz) I think that the plan would work if the leg of the motor was equally ugly. AND if the dink was too.

I solved my problem with 2 x 10" fenders aft port side of the boat, a normal painter leading to the bow and a Very Conspicuous Orange HT 3/8" chain off the p/s aft mooring cleat.
The chain is 8' long, hangs deep in the water acting as a very effective spring for the petrol heads with their 6' bow waves.
Problem solved for the zodiac rib and 5hp merc for last 3 1/2 years.

Might not work in the Caribbean , others would know more.
Damned big orange chain hanging over the side of the boat onto the Honda.

Padlocks are only useful when encountering honest people.
A thief would likely look at the Hondas pretty leg, look at the dink and presto!
Just my 2c's worth.
