Hurricane, hope all's well

Wishing any board members and/or their vessels are all safe and well, down in the lower parts of the US, that is being battered by yet another storm. Keep safe.

I just wish it was over

Now it is blowing from the southeast which means that it is moving off. Way too slowly. We have had cat 2 winds for 10 hours now.

Should be down to 40knots by this evening. IF the bitch moves!

Lots of boats are down in the yard here, buildings damaged. Too dangerous to do much besides checking chafe and heeling rail down in the slip.

we had 100 mph for most of the night. If I wasn't here I would have had damage. broke 2 lines on jasmine and retied two other boats that we breaking loose.

I just need some sleep. And a drink Maybe tonite.

Rich - Glad you and Jasmine came through OK. Scary time. I note that you sign off indicating that whe's a Westsail. One thing's for sure - if she had gotten loose and hit anything, whatever she hit would have lost! La Nostra broke loose in St Maarten in '97 (before we owned her) and sank two other boats before coming to rest against a dock -which she crushed. Had some cosmetic damage to the hull, tore up some caprail on the port bulwark and bent up the bow pulpit.

Boats down in the yard

Rich,

Some of my friends haul out at Westland for the summer. Can you tell us how many boats in the yard are down?
