How clean silicon gasket from hatch

Got a hatch where silicon glue was used as gasket.

Have cut the silicon off but have remaining silicon here and there. Also small bits of silicon all over the hatch rim.

Was thinking of using a chisel to scrap it off.

Any other methods ?

Chisel works good if your careful. I used wd40 on some and it helped but have heard it can cause problems so research it. Lots of info on a Google search.

Re: How clean silicon gasket from hatch

The guys at Practical Sailor say the ONLY thing that works is this:

Re-Mov

If you leave any silicone on the hatch, which you will, whatever you use next won't stick. It's nearly impossible to remedy this. The Re-Mov product brings back 80-90% adhesion. NOTHING else gets above 25%. I mean NOTHING.

I know this but was planning to use butyl to seal so need not stick.
