Getting to Cuba

Hi all

Don't know if this is the right place to post this, but, oh well.

We want to fly to Cuba from Cancun when we get up there. We are USA nationals.
How to do this??
Can it be done??
Has any USA citizen done this??

Would like to take the boat there, but, the added cost for insurance is way too high.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Getting to Cuba

It can be done. I have flown to Cuba from the Dominican Republic before, but not Mexico. should be no different. change your dollars into euros and ask the Cubans when you land and are going through C&I not to stamp your passport. There have been a lot of Americans do this same thing over the years and it is not a big deal to the Cubans. Make sure you have a round trip ticket that shows the return date and already have your hotel accommodations taken care of before you land. Have a copy with you. Lock your passport up in the safe at the hotel and carry a photocopy with you for ID.

Re: Getting to Cuba

There are several general licenses for Americans to travel to Cuba without penalty. Google this and you may fall under one of these. I will be flying from Miami. If you do not fall under a general license, then do as has been posted. Euros or Canadian currency. We are only weeks to months away from trading currency and having the ability to use credit or debit cards there.
