Failing at sailing (sunfish adventure)

I'm glad you're here. That's one of my absolute favorite boats of all times. They've been in production for 60 years and have sold a gazillion of them. There is a very good reason for that. They are absolutely the most fun to rig and sail. You've got a keeper.
Our club has 14 of them and use them for training and racing. They hold up well to all kinds of abuse. Most of our hulls are from the 70s and even though they've been patched many times and most all the gear has been replaced they are still going strong.

Aye, in the world of kids the sunfish was like Formula Ones after messing around in Sabots and scows. One tip is to make your outbound leg as near to the wind as you can. That way if you get into trouble or just get tired the wind will push you back towards the dock.

I learned on Kaneohe Bay when about 5 or six. The reason I mention that is because it weren't but a few yrs later we'd venture outside the bay. Sometimes knowing better and the sense for adventure are mutually exclusive. But always the Sunfish could take it.
