Do Multihullers Ever go Back?

I think we could safely consider every mono lost at sea as "sunk"; the same would apply to the cats. I don't think this would change the numbers at all, the difference is too massive. We are talking about a tiny fraction of a percent of the huge mono fleet. Each sinking will have a much more dramatic effect on the numbers of the tiny cat fleet...

No all you've proven is monohull owners never have the time and money to go someplace where they might sink their boat. Whereas multi hullers are the real cruisers.

Didn't a couple of fellows attempt to beat the east-to-west-coast-via-Cape-Horn sailboat speed record held by a mono-hulled craft, but ended up having their catamaran broken by the sea?

Dunno, but I do know every sailing speed RTW record solo RTW and similar has been held by a multi for many many years.

Certainly, there is no way for them to know that north america was out there, of course, they may have gone, and then came back to Hawaii, decided California wasn't all it's cracked up to be.
