Boom Brake - set up

we use normal double braid polyester sheet line. when the boom brake is released there is too much friction on the drum and all the tension of the main sail is taken up on the boom brake until i physically move forward and hand feed the line into the boom brake which defeats the purpose of the boom brake to start with. wondering if we are using the wrong sort of line around the boom brake? does anyone have experience with this please?

Bruce.

Re: Boom Brake - set up

Are you using the right sized line? Never had a problem with my Walder, just ease the brake line and the boom flops over. Which boom brake are you using? Just a thought, are you running the lines aft through blocks on the toe rail? Are all the leads fair?
