Tortola in August

Hi -- I'm new to this forum and have been watching the posts for awhile.... I'm not looking for anything other than gaining some sea time and experience. I will be in Tortola, BVI for the month of August visiting family and would love the opportunity to get in some boating while I'm there. I realize the time of year is not the best as most vessels are either north in the states, or are much further south to avoid hurricane season, etc.. But, if there are any boats that will be in the area, would be great to connect and gain some knowledge. I am a freelance photographer and writer and will be documenting my travels for (hopeful) publications. If you own any kind of charter company, etc - I would love to meet with you as well. I appreciate in advance serious comments and responses. Again, I realize I'm "green" in my experience (only about 1200 sea miles) but I'm really wanting to get some more experience.
