St. Martin charter

Good date mates. Set for first time chartering/sailing out of St. Martin. Be there in May for 7 days plus sleep aboard. I've sailed BVI and USVI many times and Antigua/Barbuda. Looking for recommendations for a 7 day itinerary. I understand things are weather dependent, but I'd like to go into it with a plan

Is it too much to try to see Anguilla and St. Barts? 4 aboard. All around 50 and fit.

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Your charter operator will have itineraries, like this:

Re: St. Martin charter

Gord May, thanks for the Response. I've seen the Moorings (and others) suggested itinerary, but I wanted some input from those that have been there. That 7 day is packed pretty full. Would we be better focusing only on 2 islands? If so, which 2?

Thanks!

Yes you can easily do St-Martin, Anguilla and St-Barths in 7 days.

However some planning is required.
I presume you will be starting your charer on the french side of St-Martin. Be sure to go rigt away.
I would Do my check out right away and leave the next Morning for Anguilla.
You will have to clear in at Road Bay. If you there there early go clear in right away and ask for a check out also.
Expect to spend a good hour in there.
Then sail toCrocus Bay. Road bay smells bad and water is dirty.
Cute little beach in Crocus Bay. You may also want to get a taxi to go to Shoal Bay. Do not try and go by boat. Dangerous reefs.
2 nights in Anguilla is enough.

Then sail straight to St-Barths. CLear in at Gustavia. Also check out.
2 nights is enough. Rent a 4 Wheeler and drive around the Island.
Very expensive.

Then sail back to St-Marteen. Clear in on the Dutch side.
Spend the rest of your charter exploring the Island

What I Don't like about St-Martin is that you spend lots of time in a customs office. Compared with a destination like the BVI's or Antigua Barbuda, The Grenadines or even the Bahamas

Have fun

Flagman, many thanks. Good stuff. What spots would you recommend on St. Martin?

Re: St. Martin charter

We booked through Moorings. They had a boat I really wanted to sail and spend some time on. I'm looking to sail my own boat through these waters in a few years.

I have not been to ST-Martin since Irma and Maria.
I did like Orient bay, Simpson bay if you want to walk to Maho beach for a jet blast. Marigot for the french taste. Grand Case was cool on some saterday nights with music and parades.
Tintamare if you like snorkeling or diving.

Your charter company will know more about what is still there or not. Check out blogs for the spots I gave you.
Some may have rebuilt, others may not.

May I ask what is the boat?

Re: St. Martin charter

PS. If you do sail to St-Barth, do not sail into Gustavia port. You must contact the Capitainerie first
Ask you charter company wich chanel. Ussually 8 i think
The best is to just drop the hook near the Islets. You will see a bunch of boats at Anchor there.
